Transylvania Photography Workshop: Day 1
Welcome dinner and workshop introduction. Each participant will present a portfolio of maximum 20 personal photos which will be discussed from both technical and esthetical points of view.
Transylvania Photography Workshop: Day 2
Wake up in the early morning to capture the sunrise at a sheepfold close to Viscri, followed by breakfast. The day will continue with a visit to the local blacksmith and a visit to the wonderful white fortified church in Viscri.
In the afternoon you'll visit the charcoal makers, preserving a craft on the verge of extinction. In the evening you'll capture one of the most fascinating moments in the life of the village: cows returning from pasture and finding their homes by themselves while owners await them at the door.
Transylvania Photography Workshop: Day 3
This day of the Transylvania Photography Workshop starts with catching the sunrise in the spectacular village of Biertan, laid in a valley and having a fortification in the middle, on a hilltop. Then you’ll drive to another village to meet the friendly local blacksmith and watch him making horseshoes, be ready for an iron and fire show! Lunch will be prepared by the blacksmith himself.
In the afternoon you’ll visit another charcoal maker, and capture him while doing his job .
Just after sunset, during the “blue hour” you’ll go to the medieval town of Sighisoara for taking postcard-like pictures.
Transylvania Photography Workshop: Day 4
After breakfast you will all seat, project and discuss the images you took and discuss how your photography can improve. For sure there is a lot to learn from each other and from Sorin, the workshop facilitator.
Depending on the weather and light conditions, the scheduled activities may be changed.

We will run this workshop on request for a group of at least 6 photographers.

Sorin is much appreciated for his photographing skills and his passion for rural heritage conservation in Transylvania. He is currently doing a PhD on the topic “Traditional blacksmiths in Transylvania”, has studied photography for 3 years at the Folk Art College in Timisoara, and has a bachelor in history.
As a photographer, he had 8 personal photography exhibitions in Romania. He also won numerous awards such as:

For several years now, Sorin is a free-lance photographer and organizes photography workshops in rural Transylvania, a place he knows like the back of his palm.

The location of the workshop is in the heart of Romania, 250 km north from Bucharest.
By plane you can fly to Bucharest airport and then take a bus for 5 hours to Rupea or to Tirgu Mures airport and take a bus for 2 hours to Rupea. From Rupea your hosts will pick you up and bring you to Viscri village (15 km from Rupea). Private transfers from Bucharest or Targu Mures can be organized.
You can also reach Romania by train or by bus with Eurolines or Atlassib.
To confirm the booking 100 EUR/person should be paid. The remaining amount can be paid 4 weeks before the workshop. Payments can be done through bank transfer. Credit card payment is possible through PayPal, in which case a 5% PayPal transaction fee applies.

We will stay at charming rural guesthouses, owned by locals and classified with 3 flowers in shared double rooms with private bathrooms.
3 breakfasts, 3 lunches and 3 dinners are included.
Meals are cooked by traditional recipes and most ingredients come from local farmers. The food is very tasty as it is grown through traditional farming methods. Lunch can be a snack, picnic or on the go.
