Garana Jazz Festival is one of the best jazz festivals in Romania.
This unusually deserted village, once inhabited by German settlers, comes to life each summer with saxophones, when top-notch Romanian and international jazz bands line-up for great evening shows. During the day you can enjoy the natural beauty of the place, up in the mountains, nearby a lake and a few more forgotten villages.
This jazz festival is a great example of how to creatively revive endangered rural heritage through tourism.
For 2012 bands and artists like Adrian Gaspar Trio (Austria), Eugen Gondi Trio (Olanda), Guilty Lemon (România), Edgar Knecht Quartet (Germania) and Marc Ribot (SUA) have confirmed their presence.
The location of this festival is in South-Western Romania, 140km from Timișoara and 500 from Bucharest.
